Dili, April 17, 2018 – Directorate General of Statistics Timor-Leste has released Consumer Price Index for the month of March 2018 at the GDS REHA Conference Room Caicoli Dili.
The General Director of Statistics, Mr. Elias dos Santos Ferreira during his remarks by stating that, all groups percentage change rose (+0.2%) for the month of March 2018, compared to February 2018 also rose (+0.3%). The price increase was mainly contributed from Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+0.1%), Alcohol and Tabaco (+1.5%), Housing (+0.9%), Transport (0.4%) groups. A rise in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages was driven by Rice (+0.7%), Vegetables (+0.2%) and Oils and Fats (+0.1%) subgroup. Meat (-0.6%) and Fruits (-0.5%) subgroups were the offsetting movement to the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages group.
Annual All Group percentage change rose (+0.2%) compared March 2018 to March 2017, contributed by Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+1.4%), Education (+16.6%), Alcohol and Tabaco (+3.1%), Transport (+2.1%), Housing (+1.7%), Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (+1.3%) and Clothing and Footwear (+0.6%) groups. Recreation and Culture (-2.0%) was the offsetting movement for the calendar year of March 2018.
Tradeable CPI rose (+0.4%) and Non-Tradeable CPI fell (-0.1%) compared March 2018 to February 2018
Tradeable (+2.1%) and Non-Tradeable CPI (+1.3%) rose compared March 2018 to March 2017.
The ceremony of the launching was also attended by Executive Director at MCI, Jacinto Paijo, Central Bank Mr. Benigno, representatives of line ministries, Civil Society, University Students, Staff within General Directorate of Statistics and Media.
