The Timor-Leste CPI for all groups monthly has shown increased (+0.3%) for January 2019, compare than last month December 2018 increased (+0.1%). Prices increased with the most contribution from Education (+9.0%), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.2%) and Alcohol and tobacco (+0.6%). Transportation group is considered offsetting price changes for all inflation. Group Food and non-alcoholic increased give major impact from sub-group Vegetables (+1.2%), Milk, Cheese and Eggs (+1.9%) and Oils and Fats (+1.0%). Subgroups Sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (-0.7%), Food products i.e. (-0.4%) and Meat (-0.1%) are considered offsetting movement for all groups Food and non-alcoholic beverages. On the others side, Price of International Oil decreased -28% for the last trimester 2018, it has given impacted to the prices of local market.
Movement percentages the annual CPI increased (+1.7%) January 2019 – January 2018, getting contribution from group Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.4%), Alcohol and tobacco (+10.9%), Education (+9.0%), Transportation (+3.5%), Housing (+0.7%). Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (-0.5%), Clothing and Footwear (-0.5%) and Communication (-0.1%) become other offsetting movements to the annual January 2019.
Inflation Tradeable (+0.2%) increased and Non-Tradeable (+0.3%) increased monthly January 2019 – December 2018.
