Dili, Timor-Leste, 20 July 2017: The completion ceremony Business Activity Survey 2016 and the granting certificates at Directorate General of Statistics, Cai-Coli Street. The ceremony was leading by Director General of Statistics, Mr. Elias dos Santos Ferreira, in that occasion was also attending by casual staff of Business Activity Survey, national directors at DGS, Chiefs as well as all staff at DGS.
A representative of casual staff for Business Activity Survey informing that, the activity during conducting their work in the fields were facing some an advantages and disadvantages. Advantage in the field is entrepreneurs were welcoming our interviewers to interview them about their business activities. A disadvantage is some of the companies were not welcoming interviewers to interview them and the companies was providing many reasons while interviewer approached to their companies.
During 2 months of commencement working in the field, the Business Activity Survey was running smoothly. The total sample was intended to taking is 2600 respondents but in reality in the fields an interviewer said that only 1686 entrepreneurs are willing to have conducted an interview by BAS casual staff, and from these amount we considered that only 78% were well elaborate. Based on the report that was quoted by National Director of Economy that the total of 899 companies did not well cooperate with an interviewer and putting into percentage is about 32%.
Director General of Statistics Timor-Leste, Mr. Elias dos Santos Ferreira said that during undertaking BAS project we know that an Interviewers faced a lots of obstacles but have try to overcome those with well results of works. In this occasion Director General was also extending his congratulations to the Secretariat of Business Activity Survey of their mentoring with a very well and also congratulations he wishes to dedicated to all staff who have been hard working to make this project complete based on time. He also further said that “the most important things are we have to work together and in good coordination for great success”.
