The second phase of Scholarship Students from The Ministry of Finance


The second period of nine Timorese scholarship beneficiaries from the Ministry of Finance of Timor-Leste who studied at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistik (STIS), Jakarta-Indonesia, conducted Field Work Practices at the Directorate General of Statistics.

The Field Work Practices commence on 4th to 29th September 2017. The course duration at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistik goes for four academic calendar years, and when the students accomplished three years studying, the students entered to the year of field work practice. Throughout placement at Directorate General of Statistics the students have split into three groups and their placement is internally rotation method.

The main objective of field work practices of students at Directorate General of Statistics is to incorporate two dimensions such as theoretical of learning process and adjusting to the real work exercise. Moreover, indeed in this stage, enabling the students to improve their knowledge on how the system is established, and on how the roles are functioning.

There is enormous activities been done and outcome gained by students during their field work practices at Directorate General of Statistics. Through placement to single unit or directorate, helps the student to understand the working environments at statistics office, beside that to assist them to knowing well the complexities of each single work, than to help them understand on achievement made only can be go through once the program has to be design as holistic process.

The closing ceremony of students field work practice held on 30th September 2017, at REHA conference room of Directorate General of Statistics (DGS). As gesture of acknowledgments to the students, together with DGS senior management, than officially H.E Mr. Elias dos Santos Ferreira, general director lead the closing ceremony.

The Timorese scholarship beneficiaries express their emotional filling and thankful to the government of Timor-Leste in particular addressing to Ministry of Planning and Finance, and the General Directorate of Statistics, who has welcoming them to have change to do field work practice during one month at  DGS  office.
