The World Bank consultants provide two days training on Stata software and create website links page for statistical indicators that soon will upload into the DGS website.

Mr. Imam Setiawan said that the objective of conducting these training such as Stata is a general-purpose statistical software package and web page management system especial to provide a drop down list with indicators for statistics. The aim of the training is to help in order to enhance the capacity of our friends that from statistician background, so that they in the future they can created indicators for statistics of Timor-Leste in an independent manner, beside that the available indicators can be utilized by government, researcher and public at large for taking a decision in order for the development of Timor-Leste.
During two days training the training was split into two groups, one group was consisting of three participants focus on how to create and designing the website management system in uploading and controlling in editing, and the second group focusing on how to analysed and tabulating the data as well as how to interpreting tables to become as an information that will be useful for user, said by Mr. Setiawan.
In the same occasion Mr. Imam as a consultant to the World Bank and his team also by expressing their especial thanked to the Director General of Statistics Timor-Leste, Mr. Elias dos Santos Ferreira with his management team that was in warm welcoming the team in the DGS.
Mrs. Aljira Doutel and Mr. Onorio dos Santos as the representatives of the 15 participants shared views in the training of the Stata Program that “we are really happy to gained more and more knowledge through training like the training that we have now such as Stata and website designing especially for Statistical links to put all indicators that will be useful for end users.
The Stata software for them 70 % they have gained and the most important in the future training we want to gained more in-depth analysis and showing the data file same as in the published publication like Timor-Leste Poverty and Inequality.

The Director General of Statistics Timor-Leste Mr. Elias dos Santos Ferreira stating his especial thanks to Mr. Imam Setiawan and his team from World Bank in which spare their time to training our staffs in field of capacity building in statistical software package. Mr. Elias also extend his thanks to the National Director of System and Report, Mr. Silvino Lopes and Chief of Department of Statistics Data Management, Mr. Lourenco Soares by organizing the training and all accommodation during two days training at DGS.

As you may know that Stata is a general-purpose statistical software package created in 1985 by Stata Corp. Most of its users work in research, especially in the field of economic, sociology, political science. I want to inform you all that Stata software is very sensitive case for instance “while you type all statement should be lower case, and you should not put upper case on it otherwise the program out put in a red statement means error”. Said by DG Elias. He further more said that few weeks ago Director General Elias had a discussion with a head of the World Bank and the head was accompanying by Mrs. Ririn Salwa Purnamasari, during the discussing they are referring to the capacity building to Statistics staff, and finally they have meet an agreement or green light for two years supports. During the closing ceremony of handover certificates to the 15 participants DG also said that, please practise whatever you have got from trainers and implement during your daily work, said Mr. Elais.
