Census Night

Dili, 10th July 2015, Census Night implemented throughout the territory of East Timor. Hours of work at the start of the hour 22.00 – 00.00. All people who will have spent Census Night 11th/12th July 2015 in the household will be eligible for enumeration.

At The Census Night team agency census start interview at hospital Guido Valadares in Dili Bidau Toko Baru. Director General of statistics of East Timor, Mr. Antonio Freitas with international observer from Australia and Indonesia monitoring activated census night at territory of East Timor.
All Persons present on the census night withing Timor Leste borders will be enumerated regardless of whether they are citizens or not. Information will also be collected on Timorese who will be out of the country on the census Night.

All international staff including UN, bilateral and multilateral agency’s staff that will be in Timor Leste on census night will be counted. This is because the services in term of house, water, schools for their children, etc. Will have to be factored in overall planning of the country.
