Díli, 23 September 2020, The Director General of Statistics, Mr. Elias dos Santos Ferreira today release report of Consumer Price Index for August 2020. The Launching was attending by Central Bank Timor-Leste’s representative, World Food Program delegation, Media, University Students from UNDIL, UNTL and UNITAL and also National Directors at the GDS as well as representatives from line ministries. The event was held at the GDS REHA Conference Room, Caicoli, Dili.
All Groups percentage change fall (-0.1%) for the month of August 2020, compared to July 2020 also increased (+0.1%). Percentage change of All Groups (-0.1%) and it was contributed from Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverage (-0.1%), Group for Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance decreased (-0.3%), Clothing and Footwear (-0.3%) and Transports (-0.2%). Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverage decreased due to an impact of majority from sub-group of vegetables (-1.2%), Milk, Cheese and Eggs (-0.6%), Coffee, Tea and Chocolate (-0.4%). Rice (+0.3%), Oil and Fats (+0.7%), Fish and Sea Food (+0.6%) become as contrary change for an inflation group of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverage.
An annual percentage of CPI change increased (+0.6%) compared month of August 2020 – August 2019, was contributed by Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverage (+1.3%), Education (+2.6%), Clothing and Footwear (+1.1%). Alcohol and Tobacco (-0.2%), Transports (-1.8%), Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (-0.4%), Housing (-0.9%) and Communication (-0.4%), become as opposing change for annual August 2020.
